IBM MAINFRAME: Free Cobol compiler for Windows ->:::: Author Message vidyakrishna New User Joined: 06 Oct 2006 Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2013 5:09 am Post subject: Free Cobol compiler for Windows Hi. I am planning to practice cobol in winows7.I installed ms cobol in my PC but it s throwing compatability error.And says you need 64bit cobol compiler to practice becoz my computer is 64bit one and cobol compler what am using is 32bit.I searched in google but am not clear what to install and how to practce at home.Please help me how i can practice cobol at home.Am desperatley in need of it.Plz plz help me. Thanks in advance.

Am sure you could just 'google' and it might fetch you lot of free COBOL compilers. It will not run 16-bit programs, but you can install VirtualBOX (and install XP in that) to run them. Been there, done that, works like a charm. I installed Virtualbox and trying top install XP in that but throwing error as below fatal: no bootable medium system halted. Can any one help me how to resolve this.
